# MCP server

Connect an assistant to Tinyphone over MCP: the tools, what each one reads, and the two that change the phone.

The same engine for an assistant, over stdio, on the phone on this Mac's cable.

## Connect

Install the [command line tool](/docs/cli) first, then add it to Claude Code:

```
claude mcp add tinyphone -- tinyphone mcp
```

Any MCP client that runs a local command works the same way: the command is `tinyphone mcp`.

## Tools

| tool | what it does |
| --- | --- |
| `phones` | the iPhone on the cable: ECID, name, model, iOS, whether it is supervised and whether by this Mac |
| `inspect` | what the phone carries: properties, every profile, the apps |
| `modes` | the phone's saved modes and which one is active |
| `history` | what this Mac did to the phone, newest first |
| `profiles` | the configuration profiles on the phone, as the phone reports them |
| `doctor` | Apple Configurator, cfgutil, this Mac's identity, a phone on the cable |
| `backup` | the phone backed up into this Mac's MobileSync folder; does not change the phone |
| `apply` | changes the phone: a preset or your own mode, installed over the cable and read back |
| `remove_profile` | changes the phone: one profile by identifier, only with `confirm: true` |

## What it can reach

Only the phone on this Mac's cable, and only what the command line can do. There is no hosted server: nothing an assistant does here goes through the internet.
